FACILITY ENERGY AUDIT

EES energy audits are led by our Certified Energy Managers (CEM) with the qualifications necessary to deliver a high quality energy assessment that is meant to provide our customers with the information necessary to invest in the right solutions.

Our energy audits will deliver a comprehensive assessment of current system operations with recommendations for remediation. We follow an engineering regiment that follows a three step partnership approach:

  • Understand our customer’s objectives and challenges
  • Assess the current systems
  • Provide the solutions recommendations

  • OUR SYSTEM EXPERTISE INCLUDES:

  • Utility sub metering of critical building energy resources, which includes: cooling & heating BTU’s, Steam, Electrical, Water, Gas, Fuel Oil.
  • Pumps, Blowers and Fan Systems
  • Power Factor Correction
  • Waste Heat Recovery
  • Control Systems for efficiency gains through integration
  • Compressed Air System Optimization
  • Load, Building, Energy Management System for tenant billing or energy input per unit
  • Steam Systems, Boilers, & Ovens
  • Variable Speed Integration with Controls
  • Lighting
  • Computer Aided Building Performance Modeling
  • PHILADELPHIA BENCHMARKING

The recent Philadelphia Benchmarking mandate put in place by the City of Philadelphia requires commercial buildings 50,000 SQFT and greater to document energy and water consumption through Energy Star Portfolio Manager and report the results to the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability on an annual basis. A fine will be levied for non-compliance of $300 for the first 30 days and $100 per day thereafter.

EES assists building owners with meeting the requirements set forth by the mandate and can assist with the development of a plan to improve building efficiency which results in year over year efficiency improvements. As building performance will be benchmarked with similar building types, buildings that have poor scores will likely be required to pursue efficiency improvements in upcoming years. This has taken place at other large cities who have enacted similar legislation.

    UTILITY REBATE MANAGEMENT

Projects that deliver higher system efficiency will likely qualify for utility rebates from local electrical services providers (PECO, PPL, First Energy, BGE, CL&P, PSE&G, NYSERDA, etc) within your territory. These rebates are designed to incentivize the end user to invest in new technology or change operational sequences to decrease energy demand (KW) and consumption (KWH).

PROJECTS THAT QUALIFY FOR REBATES INCLUDE:

  • Motors & VFD’s
  • Lighting Systems
  • HVAC
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Building Envelope
  • Custom Measures – Non-standard systems upgrades that requires higher levels of measurement & verification

  • EES has administered rebate applications throughout the northeast and can maximize rebate dollars on projects. Our unique value includes our knowledge of the application process and our engineering aptitude. We will collect all pertinent information for the application and will be the point of contact until the application is approved and the rebate is in hand. We will also orchestrate any M&V requirements for both prescriptive and custom incentive applications.

Please contact us for assistance with your rebate application.

    PROJECT DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT

Employing Project Management Institute (PMI) project management principles, we have the expertise to take a project from concept to implementation. Utilizing a validated value map, we assist with obtaining project buy-in from essential project stakeholders.

  • MANUFACTURING PROCESS ASSESSMENT

Through our years of Process Excellence work, we understand the varying dynamics between the different pieces of equipment on a production line.

The day-to-day fire fighting hinders manufacturing processes that requires a process approach to improving overall production throughput, which eventually drives down cost and adds to the bottom line. By studying all the factors that hinder 99.9% operational efficiency, we provide our customers with the information necessary to significantly reduce, the effects of bottlenecks, waste/rework, utility consumption (air/nitrogen/electric/gas), while improving equipment reliability.

  • Manufacturing Bottleneck Studies – How do you increase capacity on a system without understanding the bottleneck in the manufacturing process? Our assessment will identify current capacity constraints and monetize the opportunity costs for not increasing line rates
  • Equipment Reliability Analysis – Development of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) for production lines and monetizing the cost of downtime for our customers
  • Production Energy Usage Reduction – Combustion Systems used for drying/baking/oxidization. Air, Usage, Nitrogen Usage, Electrical Demand
  • Production Waste Studies – Determining points of waste generation & mitigation strategies
